Capital Campaign
A MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES:
In 2008, after prayerful consideration, the Board of Trustees made a commitment to our families to earnestly plan for a permanent, independently owned location for our school. Plans were conceived and a search for the optimal location was begun. It is now time to move forward with our plans.
About the new school:
The new school will feature state-of-the-art technologies, fully focused on the future, reflecting our commitment to teaching environmental stewardship and preparing our students to excel. Specialized work areas not available at our current location will include:
- a hands on science lab
- a dedicated art room with a pottery wheel and kiln
- a multi-purpose room for student performances, social gatherings and physical education classes
- a fully functional library to support independent research
Great attention will be paid to planning the immediate outdoor spaces, which will serve as an extension of the classrooms and support the environmental curriculum. A greenhouse/bio-shelter, outdoor garden spaces and preserved natural areas for play and exploration are important aspects of the plan. Additionally, we will be seeking LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certification for our design, meaning we will be paying close attention to water efficiency, energy use and emission, material choices and indoor air quality.
The design of the building will incorporate many elements of the Western Reserve style of architecture. In true Montessori fashion, the school is designed to impart a welcoming, home-like feeling and to fit in with, rather than stand out from its surroundings. Our goal is to retain the natural beauty of our site, which is adjacent to the Holden Arboretum.
It is vital to our identity as a Catholic Montessori to include a Chapel in our plans. This dedicated, sacred space will be reserved for reflection, prayer and worship. We are working with the Diocese to assure that Mass can be celebrated at the new school.
The estimated cost of the project is $2 million. Additionally, we are seeking an endowment of $1 million to fund short term increases in operating expenses as we grow toward full capacity in the new facility. The endowment will also allow us to keep
tuition affordable for our families during the transition period. While these goals are ambitious, we believe they are attainable with generous support from our families, friends and those who wish to endorse our child-centered, vibrant approach to education.
The campaign to secure funding will soon be underway. Please notify the school If you would like to learn more about supportingthis project or to inquire about limited named giving opportunities. The Board would be happy to meet with you.
