Why Catholic Montessori?

The purpose of a Catholic education is to inspire a deep love for Jesus and His Church by fostering a knowledge and understanding of the essential elements of scripture and the liturgy, as well as the doctrines and traditions of the Catholic Church.

We endeavor to teach our students, through words and personal example, that the gift of God’s great love is to be shared with others in acts of Christian service to those in need -- both within our school family and in the broader community.  We believe this is an integral part of helping our students develop into socially responsible, caring individuals.

Our focus is to guide children to an understanding that they are truly part of God’s plan.  They learn that what they do and say matters, and that they have the potential to make a real difference in the world.

Religious education or “Atrium” is a key piece in our curriculum at all levels, incorporating a program approved by the U.S. Catholic Conference of Bishops.  Students are also given the opportunity to deepen their relationship with God as they study and apply the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, a Montessori-inspired approach to religious formation.  Time is reserved during the school week for prayer and participation in the liturgy and sacraments.

“Passing on the Catholic faith at PCM unfolds as

a journey with the children and the adult traveling

together, growing closer to God through prayer,

scripture and liturgy.  The potential for a deep

relationship with Jesus the Good Shepherd is

fostered in the very youngest child; as the child

grows, their natural inclination is to protect that

relationship and stay connected.  This process

grounds the young person in their faith as they

move on from PCM into the broader world.”
